Khadi Global Retinol 2.5% Serum review, Worth it ?

Khadi Global Professional Retinol 2.5% Serum Review

Namaste there πŸ™,

Hope you’re doing great 😊,

Have you been looking for something like anti-aging, make less visible or lighter those brown spots, and clear those annoying blackheads and whiteheads? Well, Retinol gets you covered, yes it has all those benefits and more. That's why I bought this Khadi Global 2.5% Retinol Serum. Now don't freak out with 2.5% concentration of it I'll explain it to you why. Let's get into more details!

My Skin: Sensitive Combination Skin

In this Article,

Retinol :

  • Retinol comes with the family of Retinoid. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A, it helps to minimize fine lines, decrease the appearance of pores. So it becomes a really powerful Anti-Anger. It also helps to exfoliate the top layer of skin, so it peels off some of those brown spots. It makes them less visible and lighter, keeping pores clear so it helps to prevent the formation of blackhead & whiteheads.
  • Although it is popular to use for mature skin, still there is no set time to use it, you can start from your mid-twenties. For better advice, you can always speak to your dermatologist when it is the right time for you to use it. For more details, you can click here.

Let's talk about the brand, how did I get to know about it, or why you can go for it? Or maybe you're already thinking about it, some things you might want to consider.

Khadi Global :

  • Well, Khadi Global is known for its ayurvedic, or I should say natural ingredients & properties. It is made in India, and quite popular here, so it caught my attention.
  • It is a cruelty-free and vegan brand. It uses plant-based chemicals and natural ingredients. It has no paraben, silicone, and alcohol.
  • In India, it is easily available on websites like Amazon, Flipkart, Khadi Global, and also offline like Khadi global stores.
  • Khadi global is not only limited to India they do ship globally. For more details about their shipping and such, checkout Khadi Global.

And finally here comes the serum,

My Experience with Khadi Global Professional Retinol 2.5% Serum:

I've been using this serum for over a month, although I apply once or twice a week. So I thought now it's the right time to share my experience.
Khadi Global Retinol Serum has a moderately thick & liquid consistency. It is neither too sticky nor watery. The serum has a pale yellow color. I take a pea-sized amount on palm and spread it on both of my palms and apply it by patting it on my entire face and neck. I apply it after cleansing my face and when my face is still damp, I don't prefer to apply it on dry skin. The serum gets absorbed quickly into my skin. And Unlike their Khadi Vitamin C serum, I don't feel any dryness, little bit irritation, or any kind of redness. It has a mild fragrance, well I'm no fan of any fragrance in my skincare product. Other than that, why I really like this serum and made me go for it, without any second thought is because of its ingredients, It just blew me away.

It has:

  • 2.5% Retinol Palmitate: AKA Retinyl Palmitate and also Retinol Ester. It is basically another form of Vitamin A, but it is not pure Retinol. This ingredient is even suitable for sensitive skin as it is a lighter version of Retinol. It is less effective and less irritant than Pure Retinol, but I don't think 2.5% of concentration is less in any way. It has the same benefits as Retinol (I've mentioned above the benefits) but with less irritative factor.
  • Vegan Hyaluronic Acid: This is really good for hydrating your skin.
  • Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C): This form of Vitamin C is really good for sensitive and those who don't use the Pure form of Vitamin C. This is the same Ingredient which is used in Khadi Global Vitamin C Serum.
  • Vegan Glutathione Acid: It helps to lighten and brighten the skin.
  • Niacinamide: AKA Vitamin B3, the best ingredient and suitable for almost every skin type. Good for moisture loss, dehydration, and many more benefits.
  • It has a lot more anti-aging, soothing, and brightening ingredients like Aloe Vera leaf extract, Vitamin E, Wheat Germ Oil, Jojoba Oil, Green Tea Extract, Gotu Kola extract, Moringa extract, Horsetail Extract, and Propolis Oil.

These all are really amazing ingredients but other than that, there are few ingredients which I don't like or I don't prefer it to be in my skincare products. And those are Witch Hazel Extract, Tea Tree Essential Oil & Rosemary Essential Oil. Although it can be helpful at some point, on the other hand, it can also be irritative and problematic to your skin. Witch Hazel Extract usually makes my skin dry and sometime irritative but because it has Wheat Germ Oil and Vitamin E in little higher concentration than Witch Hazel, I'm not having that issue. But that doesn't mean that it will be the same case for everyone.

Whereas, Tea Tree Essential oil is a popular and easy option for treating acne problems. And yes, it is helpful but I feel there are more good alternatives other than essential oils. And the same about the other essential oil. However, the good thing is these two are in low concentration which means your skin is not in danger.

I didn't see any major visible changes on my skin, but it does clear my pores and my skin smoother whenever I use it. And after applying I don't feel any dryness or tightness, also it reduces the chances of getting acne.

For better & fast results you have to use it alternate days or might switch to the product which contains pure Retinol in it.

Moving on its pros and cons.

Pros of Khadi Global Retinol 2.5% Serum :

  1. The glass bottle packaging is good for sustainability and recycling.
  2. Get absorbed quickly.
  3. Good ingredients for Anti-aging, hydrating, soothing, brightening, and skin nourishment.
  4. Good for reducing small fine lines, acne, clearing pores & brightening effect.
  5. It is a vegan, cruelty-free, and natural product.
  6. Availability.

Cons of Khadi Global Retinol 2.5% Serum :

  1. Not travel friendly as it comes in a glass bottle.
  2. It has witch hazel and essential oils which can be problematic for dry and sensitive skin.
  3. It has a fragrance (not a good point for those who don't prefer).
  4. For complete dark spot removal or to fade blemishes, minor scars it takes a long time to see expected results.
  5. Natural Ingredients don’t suit everyone.

Will, I recommend/repurchase?

No, I’ll not repurchase, I’ll try some other brands not because I hate it or something but I did not see any incredible results on my skin, and there are other products/brands which I want to explore.

For sensitive skin No I won’t recommend it. Other skin types if you don’t mind to witch hazel, mild fragrance, or not allergic to any natural ingredient then yes you can go for it, but always follow up with a moisturizer.

Note:

  • Retinol is supposed to use during night time. And if you're going to use during day time, you must use a broad-spectrum sunscreen. As it gets deactivated by the sun and not be effective.
  • In the beginning, you might experience dryness, irritation, or redness on your skin. One should use it pea-sized amount, once or twice a week, and then gradually can increase the frequency like alternate days or as tolerated.
  • While using retinol, you can skip other exfoliators like AHA's and BHA's as your retinol will have already done at work (too much is not good for your skin).
  • You can start with 0.25% - 0.5% of concentration till 2% (highest concentration) without prescription. As the above-mentioned product is not pure retinol so you can easily get it with 2.5% concentration. For higher concentrations or at an early age to start with it, you can always speak to your dermatologist.
